WE'LL ALWAYS HAVE $1.25
After they poured the driveway, we had planned on doing the "handprint" thing. But with the heat, it dried in a very short time. SO, I thought that I would put all our state quarters at the end of it. MN for Dad, Ca from Mom, Christian and Brittany and NC for Gunnar. Its our first little touch to the house!

About 5 years ago I took a picture of Gunnar just like this on on Johnson Beach. He looked just like he did so long ago. Just a bit LARGER now at almost 8. We spent the second day in a row at the beach we all loved 7 years ago, its still free and still wonderful. Here are some pictures from our couple days there. Best of all, its onlt 15 mins to get there and FREE parking!

Red Bluff Daily News By Town of Manton evacuated Saturday, August 27, 2005 - CHERYL BRINKLEY-DN Staff Writer MANTON The entire community of Manton was evacuated Friday afternoon when fire consumed between 30 and 40 structures. Just before 3 p.m. Friday, a fire was reported in Manton. A short time later, fire officials said on the scanner that there were two fires and structures were threatened. At 7:30 p.m., information from California Department of Forestry said more than 1,000 acres were burned, and the fire was moving in a northwesterly direction. At that time, between 30 and 40 structures had been destroyed, including seven or eight trailers in a trailer park in downtown Manton. There was no power, no phones and no cell phone service Friday evening. The school, church, post office and cemetery were saved, officials said Friday. The fire was raging in the Bear Creek drainage area. Firefighters attempted to make a stand in the Rock Creek area Friday evening, but had to move back. 4 p.m., roads were being closed. Initial reports were that the fire began on Manton Road near the post office. The roads affected by the fire and closures include: Manton Road, Forward, Wild Cat Road to Ponderosa Way, Wilson-Hill, Rock Creek and South Powerhouse Road Manton School students were evacuated to the Black Butte School in Shingletown until parents could pick them up. The bus from Red Bluff Union High School was diverted to Plum Creek School in Paynes Creek until parents could pick up their teenagers. The contact person for Black Butte School is Bob Douglas at 949-1332. The contact person for Plum Valley School is Vic Ciardi at 524-9190 or 529-8700. Evacuation centers were set up at Black Butte School and at the Tehama District Fairground. The Red Cross set up the evacuation center in the Tyler-Jelly Building at the fairground. Linda Hasley from the Shasta County Unit was first on hand. "Potentially, we expect at least 200 evacuees," Hasley said. A Red Cross disaster action team set up cots, provided food and water, showers and a mobile kitchen. Pets are also accepted. "People are already stopping in to check on family members before anyone is even here," Hasley said Friday evening. One Red Bluff woman was at the fairground looking for her father and sister. The Red Cross has nurses on staff and mental health services, Hasley said in the event anyone might need someone to talk to because of the trauma. The Red Cross also provides on-site volunteers if needed at the evacuation center. Today at the house of trouble it was a very BUSY one. The bathrooms upstairs had there flooring added, the tile around the master hottub, and the outlets and swtiches all added and all the doors hung. After and during all that, that big old yellow tractor plowed the heck out of our land! He took all the drainage area out, and cleaned it up. All the drain areas will be sodded as will the front yard. He cut in our driveway and that will be poured Tuesday. The last shutter showed up after a few weeks of missing. The house will be worked on all weekend too. We are all so excited!

Christian after the first day of school.
I did find this picture of Christian and Erin (girl around the corner) getting off the bus after the first day of school...Too bad the second day was HORRIBLE. Christian said from 12:30 on they had the students sitting on the ground, under tables and such hiding. With that gunman on the loose nextdoor and in the woods at the school, the school was taking no chances..Christian was NOT happy about this, he had to use the bathroom for 3 hours and then ride to the house, over an hour later...Day three should be better he says!
What can ya say...that DARN truck broke down AGAIN! Yes this time in our new housing area. It was on with the a/c running for over an hour waiting for Christian to come home from school(see below story for that), and then the truck pooped again.Thats once in MN,KY twice and now NC...DARN it!!! Kirk and Henry are treating her to a new coil right now.

State Troopers stationed in Onslow County attempted to stop a man on highway 17 South. Then, they say he jumped out of the car with a gun, crossed a four lane highway, then ran into these woods. Troopers believe he's a convicted felon and may have a gun. It happened just feet from Dixon Middle School. That put Dixon Middle and High School on a complete lockdown for several hours, as the Highway Patrol, Military Police and Sheriffs Dept. combed the woods for the suspect. The driver was clocked 30 miles over the speed limit. Authorities say supposedly he was recently released from prison and should not be carrying a firearm. Three others were inside the stolen car. They tell Troopers they had no knowledge of what was going on. The suspect was last seen near NC 210. Dixon Middle and High School released their students around 3:30 this afternoon. Police say the suspect is armed and potentially dangerous. If you see him, call authorities immediately.

The house is starting to move...
Today we headed out to the house several times. We were told yesterday it would be 5 more weeks. Today we ran into the second in charge guy and he said they got a call from the #1 man. After Kirk making some not so nice calls about WHY they added 5 weeks on to our wait, they decided to get moving!( gotta love those lawyers) We were told today that the grout was going in tonight(and it did), the remaining doors will be going in, in the morning, the wood flooring and bathroom flooring upstairs would all be going in also in the morning. The plummer and the lighting- trim out people on Monday. Then they would start the driveway, steps and walkway a day or two later. Soon the sod and seeding will start. SO we just might get in out home closer to the first date, Sept 1st then the new Oct date!!!!!!
Yes, the day has come again....The First Day of School.
Our little babies are growing up. This picture was taken at 6:30am prior to me running Dra up to his bus at the new house. He decided to ride his school bus rather than me take him. He wanted to make a friend or two before school started, and he did..Matt. Britt was so cute in her new pink cowboy boots! She is a "Southern Girl" now...So cute! Gunnar was up and ready with no fights. He also knew Sheepy was NOT coming along.(he did greet him after school) The kids had a GREAT day, and this was the only picture of Dra I found on my camera, he was NOT into the pictures...
