Vernon J. Iverson
Iverson, Vernon J. Passed away peacefully on theMorning of July 3rd, 2005 He was 89 years old. Vernon was born in Tainter, Wisconsin on February 29th, 1916, and grew up in Colfax WI. He graduated from Luther College in Decorah, IA and earned a MA from University of St. Thomas in St Paul, MN. Vernon served as an Army Captain in WWII, He raised his family in Roseville, MN and in 1978 he retired from teaching at Johnson High School in St. Paul. In 1982 he moved to Florida. Vernon was preceded in death by his first wife of 34 years, Eulogia Boneta Iverson; his sisters Edna Scott, Velma Miller; and grandson, Greg D. Swenson. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Jean Totten Iverson; his brother Kenneth (Jo) Iverson; two daughters; Sandra (Douglas) Swenson, Kyra (Victor) Gaines; two sons, Vernon (Lea) Iverson, Steven (Mehran) Farabi-Iverson; 4 step-sons; 16 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Vern loved the sport of fishing and the game of golf. He will be remembered for his trustworthiness, truthfulness, loyalty, and sincerity. He generously gave of his time, talent and treasure to help his family, church, and friends. This loving husband, father, grandfather and honorable gentleman will be deeply missed by his family and friends. There will be an interment at Fort Snelling on August 18th at 11AM Assembly area 4. Friends are welcome. Luncheon to follow at Embassy Suites, Bloomington. Published in the Pioneer Press on 8/14/2005.
