The loss of a wonderful man..

A wonderful man has passed. Sandie's father passed over the holiday weekend. This is what was printed about him in his hometown paper... He will be missed and was loved by us all.

VERNON JUEL IVERSON 2005-07-07
Vernon Juel Iverson passed away peacefully on the morning of July 3rd, 2005 after 4 days in the care of Hope Hospice. He was 89 years old.
Vernon was born in Tainter, Wisconsin on February 29th, 1916, and grew up in Colfax WI. He graduated from Luther College in Decorah IA and earned a MA from University of St. Thomas in St Paul, MN. Vernon served as an Army Captain in WWII, He raised his family in Roseville, MN and in 1978 he retired from teaching at Johnson High School in St. Paul. In 1982 he moved to Six Lakes Country Club in N. Ft. Myers FL.
Vernon was preceded in death by his first wife of 34 years, Eulogia Boneta Iverson, his sisters Edna Scott, Velma Miller and grandson, Greg D. Swenson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Jean Dennis-Totten Iverson; his brother Kenneth (Jo) Iverson, two daughters; Sandra (Douglas) Swenson, Kyra (Victor) Gaines, two sons; Vernon (Lea) Iverson, Steven (Mehran) Farabi-Iverson, 4 step sons; Warren (Fern) Dennis, Larry (Chris) Dennis, Jeff (Sharon) Totten, Bill (Susan) Totten, 16 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
Vern loved the sport of fishing and the game of golf. He will be remembered for his trustworthiness, truthfulness, loyalty, and sincerity. He generously gave of his time, talent and treasure to help his family, church, and friends. This loving husband, father, grandfather and honorable gentleman will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
The celebratory memorial service will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church, 2691 N.E. Pine Island Road, Thursday July 7, 2005 at 1:00 PM. There will also be a memorial and interment service at Fort Snelling in Minneapolis, MN
